Boat lighting is very important for safety and navigation. There are many different types of lighting used on boats. Underwater LED lights can be used to illuminate the seabed. Interior lighting in cabins and rooms can be used to illuminate living areas on board, while deck lighting can be used to illuminate the entire boat and its immediate surroundings, such as gangways, pontoons, openings and deck equipment. There are many ways to choose interior lighting for a boat. The first thing to do is to choose light sources that are suitable for a boat's damp environment. Incandescent bulbs and fluorescent lamps are not recommended for a boat, as they can be sensitive to humidity. LED bulbs, spotlights and strip lights are ideal, as they are more resistant to humidity and consume less energy. In fact, LED lighting has an estimated lifespan of 20,000 hours, compared with 1,000 for a halogen bulb, for example. The price of an LED bulb is also fairly low.
