The brains of your autopilot, the ECU is a part to be chosen with care. The Comptoir Nautique team puts its expertise at your service to offer you a selection of the best autopilot ECUs for your boat.
Why install a pilot ECU?At the heart of the autopilot system, the pilot ECU contains the electronic components required for the system to function properly, and for key components to be connected to each other (such as rudder angle and heading sensors). The pilot ECU is designed to assist navigation, whatever the sea or weather conditions, as long as it is adapted to your boat. In general, this technical part can be adapted to hydraulic steering pumps, low-intensity solenoid valves or mechanical power units such as electric or hydraulic linear actuators. It's thanks to the pilot ECU that the automatic steering system is fully functional! |

Technical features of a pilot ECUPilot computers benefit from advanced technology, and recent innovations have improved the field of autopilot development. At the heart of this technology is the algorithm, a cleverly developed piece of software that provides an intelligent pilot and an enhanced navigation experience. The rudder angle sensor, connected to the helm via a mechanical link, informs the autopilot computer in real time of the helm's position. The system is then able to make the right steering decisions. These sensors are typically installed on sailboats >10m and inboard powerboats. There is also a "virtual" rudder angle sensor technology which reduces the complexity of installation, as is the case for outboard motorboats. Installation of the pilot ECU is simple and straightforward. Connectivity is "Plug and Play": connect the compass sensor, the rudder angle sensor, the autopilot control panel and the power unit to each identified terminal block. Power the unit, follow the settings wizard and you're ready to sail! |

Which pilot computer to choose?Comptoir Nautique offers a range of pilot computers. The autopilot EV-200 ECU developed by Raymarine is ideal for sailboats up to 11t equipped with mechanical jacks or hydraulic pumps. It's easy to install and requires very little wiring. For racing sailors, the new Gyropilot 3 computer from NKE is even more advanced, with the addition of true wind mode, apparent wind mode, compass mode, helm mode, GPS mode, polar mode and "SUPER" gust and list modes. Robust and efficient, this model is renowned for its precise calculations and its ability to follow a heading, a course or the wind in all sea and wind conditions. It's the ideal model for racing or regattas. For top-quality steering and new-found freedom, install a autopilot on your boat! |
