On an ultra-bright, anti-glare 3.5" LCD screen -, the latest-technology LED backlighting-enhances color and contrast while saving energy.

The Raymarine p70s features +/- 1° to +/-10° buttons for easy selection of the course to be set. The interface is simpler and gives you quick access to all information.



BENEFITS OF THE EV-1 CENTRAL SENSOR

The EV-1 is a 9-axis sensor that monitors ship movements in all three dimensions.

Install the EV central sensor on or below deck, the robust housing is totally sealed and complies with IPX6 and IPX7 waterproofing and submersion standards.

It gives you permanent, precise control of heading, pitch, roll and yaw. The autopilot will instantly take into account navigational conditions and changes in ship dynamics.

Transistorized sensor technology offers dynamic accuracy of less than 2 degrees under all sailing conditions.

ACU CONTROL UNIT-400

Ideal for hydraulic, linear and mechanical rotary power units Raymarine Types 2 and 3, the EV-400 ECU is suitable for all helm systems.

The supplied rudder angle sensor indicates the position of the rudder on the P70s pilot controller, and improves your boat's course keeping. Simply connect-to the ACU400 ECU's channel terminal block.

Reliable and high-performance, the rudder angle sensor guarantees precise, safe navigation and steering.

Autopilot EV-400 HIGHLIGHTS

The EV-400 is a top-of-the-range autopilot designed for sailboats up to 35 tons. Its main asset is the 9-axis EV sensor, which provides ultra-precise-readings of boat movements (heading, roll, pitch). Thanks to its self-learning-function, it automatically adapts to the boat's behavior without the need for complex adjustments.

When sailing, its advanced GPS functionality ensures stable, fluid course keeping, even in rough seas, enhancing comfort on board and reducing unnecessary helm movements. This translates into a significant reduction in fatigue, particularly during long crossings or solo sailing.

The system is powerful and reliable, compatible with type 2 and 3 mechanical or hydraulic actuators, and controlled by a high-performance ACU. It is also highly connected, working with SeaTalkNG and NMEA2000 networks, and can be controlled via a Raymarine screen, remote control or p70s/p70Rs console.

Caution:

Always take into account the boat's total displacement at full load. This weight is often 20% higher than the displacement of the lightship. So make sure you don't select a pilot who will constantly be working at the limit of his or her capabilities. If you select your autopilot with safety in mind, it will remain operational in bad weather.

Hello Emmanuel, the pilot can be connected to a wide range of electronic devices thanks to its compatibility with SeaTalkNG and NMEA2000 networks. The entire system can be controlled from a multifunction display Raymarine, a wireless remote control or a control console such as the p70s or p70Rs.

Can-the ev-400 for sailboats be used on all types of sailboats?

Hi Sandrine, the autopilot EV-400 for sailboats is not compatible with all sailboats, but it covers a wide range of configurations, especially medium to large sailboats, up to around 35 tons displacement. Below that, the EV-400 is likely to be too powerful or oversized.

Hello Sébastien, to activate your autopilot you need to follow the following steps:

  1. Power up the system (ACU-400, sensor EV-1, control panel p70s)
  2. Control unit initialization (switch on control unit)
  3. Commissioning: when you start up for the first time, the control unit will guide you through the commissioning process
  4. Activate autopilot: once commissioning is complete, press the control unit's Auto button to activate the autopilot

Hello Lionel, the EV-400 itself, that is-to-say the EV-1 controller and sensor, are completely silent. What can make noise is the cylinder or hydraulic pump connected to the rudder (the electric linear cylinder will be quieter than the hydraulic pump, for example).

Is the-400 EV pilot suitable for offshore or coastal navigation?-

Hi Fabienne, the autopilot EV-400 is fully adapted to offshore sailing, not just coastal sailing.

First of all, this product is specifically designed for boats over 12 meters long, which are often used for ocean cruising. It is also compatible with heavy-duty units (hydraulic or mechanical type 2 or 3), necessary for larger boats.

The autopilot EV-400 can be used for coastal navigation, but may be oversized if you have a small sailboat or are staying close to the coast.

Hello Amine, the autopilot EV-400 must be activated at the right time to guarantee safety, efficiency and navigation comfort. You can activate it, for example, under the following conditions:

  • Sailing for long periods
  • Good wind and sea conditions
  • Repetitive or tiring maneuvers

On the other hand, we advise against using it at these times:

  • When maneuvering in port, mooring or anchoring
  • In poor weather conditions
  • If your EV-1 sensor is incorrectly calibrated
