HOW TO CHOOSE a Garmin sensor?
As Garmin continues to evolve its product lines, with electronic products that are more and more powerful and more advanced, it is important to keep an eye on objective data in order to get an idea of the evolutions that the brand has brought to its latest products.
This is what we are going to do for you in this comparison, so that you can make your choice between the latest GT56 probe and its predecessors, the GT54 probe and the GT52 probe.

GT52HW vs GT54UHD vs GT56UHD
GARMIN GT52 HW SENSOR

Since the GT52HW does not have UHD technology, the definition of the images seems much less defined, less precise. Objects are coarser, but still visible.
However, it will be more difficult to distinguish their nature perfectly. As for the fish, they will appear much less distinctly than in the traditional view.
GARMIN GT54 UHD SENSOR

The GT54UHD probe is the best compromise, with almost the same features as the new GT56, the GT54 probe is also equipped with UHD technology. It has ClearVü and SIdeVü UHD.
The difference will come at the cost of a small concession on the brightness and the fineness of the rendering.
On the screenshot below, we have superimposed the views of our two Garmin probes. On the upper part, the image comes from the GT56 in SideVü 1070 kHz mode. The lower part is the image from the GT54 in SideVü 1120 kHz mode.

We note a slight difference in brightness between the two probes, but also a difference in rendering, significantly finer on the new GT56. We will notice however the great quality of the photographic rendering of the GT54 which lets appear relatively fine details.

ConClusion
Garmin's technologies are constantly improving, with each new feature surpassing the last. However, from one generation to the next, the overall performance remains partially comparable. This is what we could clearly see in the comparisons between the last two versions: GT54 and GT56. Both of them have UHD (ultra high definition) modes with a bluffing photographic rendering.
Even though we noticed a higher definition on the GT56 as well as a wider range of colors, its predecessor is still very competitive and stands up perfectly well, meeting the needs of many anglers. The GT52, the big sister, although offering commendable features, still seems largely outdated by the other two. TheUHD is now sorely lacking in this one.
