Main functions of battery isolators (engine off) :

• Provide a fast, efficient means of disconnecting the battery from the electrical circuits.
• Prevent batteries from discharging when stationary or in prolonged storage

Safety function:
For non-self-energizing alternators, the "excitation cut-off" option prevents damage to the alternator if the electrical circuit is accidentally opened while the engine is running.
