AUTOMATED TURN TEMPLATES

Your Auto Pilot Simrad doesn't just keep you on course: with the AP44 you have access to built-in turning templates, designed to make fishing or diving easier, or simply to help you turn around quickly. Simply choose a tacking angle, select port or starboard, and off you go. For even greater control over your maneuvers, you can customize your templates to execute complex spirals, zigzags and more.

DRIFTLESS STEERING

Driftless mode combines GPS navigation with autopilot steering, using the boat's position to compensate for the effects of wind and tide. This allows you to maintain a straight line to the bottom on your current heading, without having to manually define a waypoint or route. To take advantage of this powerful feature, simply link the AP44 to an NMEA 2000® -connected GPS receiver or compatible Simrad chartplotter.

LINE-OF-SIGHT TRACKING

By connecting your AP44 autopilot to a compatible fishfinder, you can perform line-of-sound tracking. The AP44 will then automatically steer the boat to maintain a constant water depth below it. This is the ideal way to follow the sounding line when fishing or boating, without having to define complex routes with multiple waypoints.
