The CRW400 captive windlass is a new type of windlass manufactured by the British brand Lewmar. It allows line to be wound up and stowed directly on a winding drum, without the need for an anchor locker.

With a power rating of 400W, it can be used on small boats up to 9m.

LEWMAR - CRW400 CAPTIVE WINDLASS

Thanks to its stainless-steel frame, composite support technology and solid ABS plastic shell, this windlass will stand up well to marine conditions . The line is constantly tidied up around the drum thanks to its guide arm to prevent tangling.

What's more, load detection is included to enable you to practice drift fishing in complete safety. The windlass also features an "automatic stop " mode that ensures the number of turns remaining when anchored in deep water.

CRW400: A CHANGE IN THE WINDLASS WORLD

The windlass housing has a transparent glass p ane, allowing you to check that the windlass is working properly as it winds up and down.

Made of acetal, the gearmotor is positioned inside the housing to protect it from water.

Pinions inside the housing transfer power from the gearmotor to the guide arm.

Thanks to its remote operation, the anchor can be deployed or retrieved directly from the cockpit.

The windlass is also self-locking, so there's no need for cleats or chain stoppers.
