Accurate heading data is an indispensable feature of marine navigation, and the HSC100 electronic compass from Digital Yacht with NMEA 0183 output uses fluxgate technology to provide ultra-precise heading data for navigation systems .

Navigation systems enable True Motion display on chartplotters, as well as target overlay and stabilization on electronic charts when MARPA/ARPA-capable. Integrated systems can also take advantage of compass information to calculate tidesand drift in real time when interfaced with a log and GPS.

The Digital Yacht fluxgate HSC100 electronic compass requires a 12/24v DC power supply for low power consumption.

High-precision compass

Most low-cost sensors are only equipped with a 1 Hz (once-per-second) data output, but Digiral Yacht's HSC100 fluxgate electronic compass outputs at 10 Hz, which is essential for MARPA target tracking and accurate radar overlay.

The HSC100 is waterproof (IPX7), so it can be mounted outside on the boat's steel hull. It also features automatic calibration to compensate for the effects of magnetic influences. Once calibration is complete, accuracy is around 0.5 degrees.
