Fortrex: robust engine design

The Minn Kota Fortrex 112 front engine has a number of features that give it an outstanding rugged sturdiness to cope with all kinds of obstacles during your inland fishing sessions.

It features a single-arm design, manufactured in extruded and anodized aluminum with a solid one-piece construction that helps your engine run more quietly, with less wear for longer life.

There is also a counter-tension stabilizer. This is a spring integrated into supportWhich applies a force whether the motor is stowed or deployed. This results in a backlash-free motor, with a reduced steering torque and years of operation.

A mudguard Bowguard 360° in the form of a removable bracket is also integrated. It detaches on impact, at any angle, and automatically resets itself, for uninterrupted fishing. What's more, its double bearing system Eliminates noise and the entire support is easy to dismantle.

Finally, its Lift-Assist halves the weight of stowage and deployment. It includes a stainless steel spring charged with nitrogen gas.

What is the motor shaft length ?

It is important to choose the right shaft length of the Minn Kota motor in relation to the boat. If it's too short, the propeller won't be sufficiently submerged. Comptoir Nautique recommends :

• Measure the distance between the bow and the waterline.
• Add 10 cm to the waterline measurement for rough water fishing.
• Add 30 cm to the waterline measurement to steer a hand-operated motor while standing in the boat.
