SILVA - COMPASS 102B/H - A CLEAR BEARING EVEN WHEN HEELED
The Silva 102B/H is a bulkhead-mounted marine compass designed for sailboats, motor sailers, and large motor yachts. Its 100-mm capsule and gimbal suspension make it easy to read the heading when the boat is heeling. The 12 V red illumination makes it easy to read at night, while the built-in inclinometer is used to monitor the heel angle.

READING THE COURSE WHILE SAILINGThe Silva 102B/H is designed to accommodate changes in trim and the boat’s movements. Its gimbal suspension accommodates heel up to 45°. The conical chart is read along its vertical edge and features graduations every 5°.
The main sight line is supplemented by two side sight lines positioned at 45°. This allows the heading to be read from the side of the boat or when the helm is not directly in line with the instrument. |
BULKHEAD MOUNTINGThe Silva 102B/H is designed for flush mounting on a bulkhead. It must be installed perpendicular to the boat’s longitudinal axis and far enough away from metal objects, high--speakers, wiper-, and other components that could interfere with the magnetic field.
Compensation is recommended when the deviation exceeds 5°. The manufacturer also recommends checking the compass once a year, as well as after installing equipment that may cause magnetic interference. A protective cover is provided for when the compass is not in use. |
