EASY COURSE READINGThe Silva 85 features an 85 mm flat chart graduated in 5° increments. A central bearing line and 45° side markers allow you to check the bearing from various positions on board. The graduated outer ring rotates 360° to help you maintain a course reference.
The compass can withstand roll and pitch up to 30°. Its compact design is particularly well-suited for situations where space at the navigation station is limited. |
FLAT MOUNTING ON A STABLE SURFACESilva 85 must be installed horizontally, aligned with the boat’s longitudinal axis. A rigid base minimizes chart oscillations, particularly on fast boats. A rubber sheet can also be placed under the compass to dampen vibrations transmitted by the engine.
Silva-We recommend keeping the compass away from metal objects, high- speakers, windshield wipers, and other sources that may disrupt the magnetic field. If the deviation exceeds 5°, a professional can perform compensation using separate magnets.- |
