Multiplexers are generally used to combine data from several instruments into a smaller number of outputs.
As it is not possible to directly connect two transmitters ("talkers") to a single receiver ("listener"), a multiplexer allows data to be grouped together and transmitted via a single transmitter connection.

An example of application would be on a commercial vessel equipped with several NMEA 0183 instruments such as GPS, wind vane-anemometer, AIS and depth sounder.
To consolidate all this data and send it to an NMEA 0183 display, the various transmitter inputs can be combined into a single output using the PRO- NDC -1E2K.
If these data are to be integrated into a NMEA 2000 network, the 1E2K can convert and transmit them over a connected N2K network, thanks to the product's built-in conversion matrix and NMEA 2000 connectivity.

With the PRO- NDC -1E2K, data can be filtered, transmitted or blocked, and monitored, offering greater flexibility and control over all instrument data.

The device is also capable of broadcasting NMEA data in various formats via Ethernet, enabling it to connect to other existing Ethernet systems and share ship data with connected third-party applications or devices.
