--Sorting Ultrasonic Transducer with UDST820 / NMEA 2000 Functionality
The Airmar UDST820 TriSonic through-hull transducer measures speed through the water using ultrasound, as well as depth and temperature, and the boat’s list and trim. With no propeller, it requires less maintenance and transmits data via NMEA 2000. Compatible with Bluetooth and CAST- Airmar, it offers precise calibration for sailboats and motorboats.

AIRMAR - UDST820 TriSonic Transducer - SPEED, DEPTH, AND TEMPERATURE WITHOUT A PADDLE WHEEL
The Airmar UDST820 TriSonic through-hull transducer measures water speed without a propeller. It also measures depth, water temperature, and the boat’s list and trim—all with a single sensor.
Ultrasonic measurement eliminates the jamming and fouling issues associated with traditional propeller-based speed sensors, while reducing maintenance. The transducer communicates with navigation instruments via the NMEA 2000 network. Its Bluetooth connection also allows you to view data and adjust settings using the CAST “ Airmar ” app.

SPEED MEASUREMENT WITHOUT A PADDLEWHEELThe UDST820 TriSonic transducer uses ultrasound to measure the boat’s speed through the water. Unlike a conventional speed log, it has no propeller that could become clogged or jammed. The absence of this moving part reduces the need for cleaning and replacement. Its adaptive signal processing system takes into account the boat’s speed, depth, and water clarity to automatically adjust measurements. Data is updated up to 5 times per second, even at slow speeds or when the boat is traveling fast. The UDST820 combines multiple measurements into a single sensor:
The transducer can be used on both sailboats and motorboats, in fresh or saltwater. Measurements are transmitted directly over the NMEA 2000 network and can be viewed on compatible navigation instruments and multifunction displays. |
BLUETOOTH CONFIGURATIONThe UDST820 transducer features a Bluetooth connection for accessing its settings from a smartphone or tablet. Simply use the free CAST “ Airmar ” app, available on iOS and Android. This allows you to view measurements and calibrate the transducer without using a computer. The app provides access to several settings:
For more detailed tuning, advanced calibration allows you to record values corresponding to multiple heel angles and up to 10 different speeds. Once recorded, these settings remain stored in the transducer, even after disconnecting the smartphone or tablet. |
