Description

FURUNO - AIS FA70 - POWER FOR SAFETY

FURUNO's FA70 Class B AIS transceiver receives navigation data from other AIS-equipped vessels in the vicinity. The FA70 also transmits information from its own vessel to nearby vessels, helping to avoid collisions.

AIS FA70

The FA70 enhances safety on board by exchanging essential navigational information with nearby AIS-equipped vessels. It significantly improves situational awareness, even in fog and darkness.

For added safety, the AIS enables reception of AIS class A and B and, thanks to its 5W power rating, allows rapid transmission of information, contributing to greater visibility.

An internal VHF splitter is integrated into the FA70.

The FA70 integrates with various AIS-compatible radars and chartplotters. A "silence" function is available on the AIS with the external on/off switch.

WHAT IS AIS?

AIS is a communication system that transmits information via a transmitter to other vessels also equipped with a receiver. The information sent is :

  • Course
  • Speed
  • Its characteristics
  • Position via GPS connection
  • The ship's identity, thanks to its MMSI number and name

With AIS, you can obtain information, identify and contact the vessels around you. You can also spot vessels invisible to the naked eye and sail peacefully.

RECEIVER OR TRANSPONDER?

It's advisable to use an AIS transponder for longer voyages, for greater vigilance and safety on board.

For those who don't sail much, we still advise you to equip yourself with an AIS receiver so you're always safe when you're at sea.
