AMEC - CAMINO-108S: DESIGNED TO DELIVER DATA AIS
The Camino 108S is designed to provide high-performance data transmission AIS. Thanks to this small, robust unit, your data will be transmitted to other vessels equipped with AIS devices; and you will receive their data by displaying it on a plotter or PC. This AIS is the easiest way to reduce the risk of collision at sea.
The dual-channel receiver tracks all vessels equipped with AIS class A or B, AtoN beacons and SARTs. Integration with the onboard navigation system is via NMEA0183 4800/38400baud, NMEA2000, and USB ports for PC connection. Data AIS can be easily backed up via the integrated SD card reader.

SIMPLER WITH THE INTEGRATED DUPLEXERThanks to the integrated duplexer AIS, there's no need to install a new antenna. Your boat's VHF antenna can now be used as a AIS transceiver as well as an FM radio. You can reduce power losses and make full use of your radio and your AIS at the same time. This integrated splitter is optimized to reduce power losses. |
PA-02 GPS ANTENNAThis is a passive GPS antenna for Camino transponders. The antenna is equipped with a 3-meter-long RG174 connection cable and a TNC connector. The antenna is designed for applications requiring high GPS accuracy and fast positioning . The housing is robust and waterproof to IP65. To improve GPS reception, you can install a GA22 external GPS antenna. |

What is the difference between AIS class A and AIS class B?
Hello Charles, AIS class A transponders are intended for professional vessels and are mandatory on some boats. They transmit at 12.5 W, send complete data every 2 to 10 seconds and have a high priority on the AIS network.
Class B transponders, designed for pleasure craft, are optional, transmit at 2 W, send data every 30 seconds and have reduced visibility, except for the more powerful SOTDMA models.
In short, Class A is more powerful and higher priority, but more expensive; Class B is simpler and more suitable for pleasure boating.

How do I connect the Camino-108S to other on-board equipment?
Hi Nolann, as indicated in the product data sheet"Integration with the on-board navigation system is via the NMEA0183 4800/38400bauds, NMEA2000 ports, and USB for PC connection. Data AIS can be easily backed up thanks to the integrated SD card reader."
Is-possible to temporarily deactivate the AIS transmission on my transponder?
Hello Daniel, Yes, you can temporarily disable the AIS transmission on the Camino-108S. This function is often referred to as "Silent Mode". To activate this function, you need to connect an external switch between the pink and light blue (or light green) wires of the Camino-108S's 12-pin data cable.
By toggling this switch, you can activate or deactivate the AIS transmission at your convenience
Do-I have to register my transponder with the authorities?
Hello Alain, yes, you need to register your transponder with a competent maritime authority, as it transmits an MMSI (Maritime Mobile Service Identity) identifier. This registration is mandatory for your vessel to be legally identified on the AIS network. Registration is carried out with theANFR.
