Mooring chains for boats are subject to standards that regulate their manufacture. There are several types of standard, such as ISO 4565 , which is a more general international standard, DIN 766 , a more specific German standard focusing on steel anchor chains, and the designation SHORT LINK , which is characteristic of short-link chains.

ISO 4565 chains have wider and longer links than DIN 766 or SHORT LINK chains, which implies differences in dimensions , weight and strength .

Here we have a sprocket that can accommodate Studlink-standard 16 mm chain. This is yet another standard for chains with special links featuring studs that improve anchor efficiency and stability . These chains are generally used on large vessels such as cargo ships , tankers or container ships .
