Victron Energie Centaur chargers are high-frequency switching battery chargers.

They feature a special coating to protect internal electrical components and ensure long life for your Centaur chargers.

VICTRON ENERGY - CENTAUR CHARGER - ROBUST AND ECONOMICAL

The charger's total charging current is distributed over the three outputs, each of which can supply 100% of the power. If only one battery is used, we recommend connecting all three outputs together to relieve the load on the separator diodes.

Default settings are for gel batteries. To use other battery types (lead-acid or AGM), simply select the battery type using the DIP switch on the charger (bottom left-hand corner).

An ammeter on the front of the charger indicates the flow rate from the charger to the batteries.

CHARGING MODE

The Centaur's charging mode comprises 3 stages:

The charger injects the charge at full power (Bulk), maintained until the output current reaches 70% of the rated power.
A constant absorption voltage is released for 4 hours. Once this second stage is complete, the charger switches to floating mode, to compensate for the discharge.
An internal temperature sensor compensates the charging voltage by -2mV/°C per cell.

Within these Centaur chargers, the input power factor is electronically corrected according to the primary power stage.

The secondary power stage ensures galvanic isolation and perfect voltage at the charger's output terminals.
