The Battery Protect function protects the battery by disconnecting it from non-essential loads before it is completely discharged (which would damage it) or before it has enough power left to start the engine.

VICTRON ENERGY - BATTERY PROTECT
The Battery Protect is a unidirectional device. It can only handle current in one direction: either towards a load, or from the charger. What's more, current can only flow from the battery terminal to the load terminal.
When used with a load, the battery is connected to the battery terminal. When used with a charger, the charger is connected to the battery terminal.
