The Charge Mate Pro 90 coupler from Mastervolt is an automatic battery switch that connects two batteries when the voltage exceeds a predefined threshold(>13V (12V) / >26V (24V)) for 5 seconds or more, allowing them to be charged at the same time. When the voltage drops (12.75V (12V) / 25.50V (24V)), the batteries are separated again.
On board, the use of a second battery is becoming increasingly common, to avoid the first battery being completely discharged and requiring regular recharging.

MASTERVOLT - CHARGE MATE PRO 90 COUPLER
The Charge Mate Pro 90 is a dedicated solution for on-board secondary battery charging. It enables efficient distribution of current from the charger or alternator to two batteries, including service and starter batteries. During charging, the Charge Mate Pro connects the two batteries, but isolates them from each other during use, reducing the risk of complete discharge, like a dead starter battery.
What's more, the Charge Mate Pro offers an additional advantage over mechanical relays by limiting the level of charging current on the second battery. This ensures that the primary battery, such as the starter battery, is charged first. Even when the secondary battery voltage is higher, the return current is directly blocked. For an emergency start function, an optional bypass switch can be fitted to the Charge Master Pro.
The Charge Mate Pro 90 maintains a high charging current, for charging Lithium Ion batteries for example. It also works with large car alternators up to 180 A, and can be paralleled with a 225 A alternator to meet the higher current requirements of boat appliances.
