The deck unit for the V8 vertical windlass Lewmar is the visible part of your windlass , the part on the deck of your boat . The headstock , or capstan , is used to facilitate the lifting of the chain and anchor .
⚠️ The V8 vertical windlass deck unit is supplied with the port headstock and friction band brake attached , and does not contain the other parts needed to operate a windlass, i.e. the geared motor and sprocket .

The deck unit with port headstock for the V8 windlass has the same features as the other windlasses in the V range , but is specifically designed for larger boats over 33m .
On this model, the chain outlet on the deck unit is oriented so that the chain exits from the left side of the boat and enters the chain well on the left .
What's more, it's made entirely of stainless steel, making it particularly durable and rustproof .
This model of V8 deck unit features an attached friction band brake that allows the anchor chain to be tightened or released by creating a friction band around the sprocket . The brake is used with a winch crank or the remote brake crank with spade link(not supplied).
The deck unit with port headstock for V8 windlass does not include sprocket, geared motor, relay, switch or circuit breaker.
You can also add all these accessories separately to your deck unit to obtain a complete windlass(see accessories).
This V8 vertical windlass deck unit with attached friction band brake is available in four different variations:
V8 DECK UNIT: IDEAL FOR LARGE VESSELSThe V8 deck unit features a choice of manual or motorized chain release. It also features a dog clutch that allows you to switch from manual to electric mode according to mooring requirements. You'll also find a remote hawse bar that allows you to use any chain diameter . However, we recommend using 14mm chain for the deck unit. These bridge units can be used with either electric or hydraulic gearmotors(not supplied). You'll find all assembly instructions in the attached PDF documentation. |
