A remote brake with direct linkage is located away from the windlass, but is connected to it by an articulated metal rod, called a connecting rod.
This system transmits the braking force from the wheel to the windlass, and locks the chain when the anchor is dropped.
It can be used on all V8 deck units with an offset brake: V8 deck units and high-power V8 deck units.
