The Battery Balancer is a very useful device when you have a large battery bank. It equalizes the state of charge of two 12 V batteries connected in series, or of several battery banks connected in series, with the banks themselves connected in parallel.

If the charge voltage of a 24 V battery system rises above 27 V, the battery balancer will switch on and compare the voltage on the two series-connected batteries. The balancer will draw a current of up to 1 A from the battery (or batteries connected in parallel) with the higher voltage. The resulting difference in charge current will ensure that all batteries converge to the same state of charge.
