With SOTDMA, the B650S reserves its transmission slots AIS in advance. Messages are sent more consistently, especially when many vessels are transmitting at the same time. Its 5 W power output also gives it a greater range than AIS Class B 2 W transponders.

The B650S features NMEA 2000, NMEA 0183, and USB--C connections. Its NMEA 0183 multiplexing function allows data to be redistributed to NMEA 0183, USB, and Wi--Fi outputs, depending on the version.
