PLASTIMO - PILOT 165 LIFEJACKET WITH HARNESS - OPTIMUM SAFETY
The Pilot 165 lifejacket from Plastimo offers effective buoyancy of 165 Newton and is approved to category 150N, which will ensure that an unconscious person can be turned over and swim more easily.
The Plastimo Pilot 165 lifejacket is available with three different release ranges: manual, automatic or Hammar Hydrostatic. Once triggered, the lifejacket deploys a fluorescent yellow inner tube with self-reflecting stripes, making it easier to spot the person who has fallen overboard outside the boat.
A larger version of the Pilot 165 lifejacket with harness is also available.

WHICH RELEASE SYSTEM?The manual release system consists of a punch to be activated manually in the event of a fall. This punch punctures the lid of the gas cylinder (CO2) used to inflate the vest. However, it cannot be activated when the user loses consciousness. The automatic release (or cellulose pellet release) uses a cartridge with a soluble element that is resistant to humidity and sea spray. As a result, the vest will only activate after immersion in water. On contact with water, the pellet disintegrates (salt or cellulose). It releases a powerful spring which activates a firing pin on the carbon dioxide cylinder. The kit has an expiration date-after which it must be replaced. However, there is a risk of unintentional triggering (by a large wave, for example). Hammar (hydrostatic) release : This system operates under the effect of water pressure. As soon as the pressure increases (from 10 cm underwater), the membrane lets the water through and the vest inflates automatically. The advantage of the Hammar system is that it doesn't risk being triggered by splashing water (high pressure is required). All inflatable vests can be triggered manually. |
Construction of the Pilot 165 inflatable lifejacketThe Plastimo vest features a new, more ergonomic design with a light, supple fabric cover for maximum range of movement. The cut has been slimmed down to give your arms more room, even when wearing loose-fitting clothing (jackets, etc.). The structure has been optimized to rest on your shoulders, which is ideal for resting your neck for greater comfort when wearing the vest. The inner tube is always well protected by a kind of cover, and the new double-opening YKK zip facilitates maintenance operations such as reconditioning. This vest will adjust perfectly to your body shape thanks to one of its adjustable side straps. Shown here with harness, the Pilot 165 lifejacket closes and adjusts with a lighter, more ergonomic buckle. It features a retro-reflective thread sewn into the center for easy night-time identification. There's also a harness-free version of the Plastimo Pilot 165 lifejacket. You can add accessories such as a sub-cutal strap or a lanyard (sold separately). |

Questions / Answers (6)
Hello, I live in Guadeloupe and I would like to know if it is possible to deliver this vest to me?
Hello Mathias, unfortunately, aviation regulations prohibit the transport of gas cartridges, which this model is equipped with. Whether it has a manual, Hammar or automatic release.
We recommend that you opt for a lifejacket without release.
Hello, is-this model equipped with a strap passing between the legs?
Bonjour Étienne, this lifejacket does not have a subcutaneous-strap. You need to opt for the compatible under-skin strap sold separately.
I wanted to know if this vest was exclusively for adults?
Hi Yann, this vest is designed for people weighing at least 40 kg. If you put it on a child, it won't be adapted to their morphology. If you want a vest for children, choose one specifically adapted to their height and weight.
How do I care for my inflatable lifejacket Plastimo?
Hello Samuel, maintaining your lifejacket is essential to prolong its life and ensure its effectiveness.
- First of all, visually check your lifejacket before each outing (outer cover, C02 cartridge, fastener, strap, release system, etc.).
- Have it checked by a professional every year.
- Store it in a well-ventilated, dry place.
- If your vest has been used and triggered, remember to buy spare parts adapted to your vest and its triggering system.
What's the difference between harnessed and non-harnessed models?
Hello Yoann, the Pilot 165 lifejacket comes in two models: with and without harness.
- The harness model includes a textile loop or "D" ring for attaching a safety lanyard. This feature is essential when sailing offshore, at night or in rough seas, where it's crucial to remain attached to the boat to prevent falling overboard
- The harnessless model does not allow attachment to a safety lanyard. It is designed to be lighter and more comfortable, making it ideal for nautical activities where attachment to the boat is not necessary, such as coastal sailing or pleasure outings
Hello, can-I add a strap under-skin or a hood on my vest?
Hi Robert, yes, you can add an under-cut and a hood to the Plastimo Pilot 165 vest.
