PLASTIMO - PILOT 165 LIFEJACKET WITH HARNESS - COMFORT, SAFETY AND FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT
The Pilot 165 with harness has been designed to provide a more comfortable and natural fit, even during long hours of sailing.
This version with integrated harness allows you to use a safety lanyard (optional) to secure your movements on board, especially when conditions become more challenging.
You can choose between three release systems : manual, automatic or hydrostatic Hammar. Each version is designed for a different purpose, depending on your level of experience, your requirements and the sailing conditions you encounter.

WHICH RELEASE SYSTEM TO CHOOSE?The Plastimo Pilot 165 vest with harness is available in three versions, to suit different uses at sea. The manual release is activated voluntarily by the user in the event of a fall into the water (a punch pierces the lid of the CO2 gas cylinder). It's a simple and effective solution, but requires awareness and the ability to act. The automatic release, also known as a cellulose pellet release, inflates on contact with water after immersion. It is particularly suitable for boaters looking for an extra level of safety, especially in the event of an unexpected fall. The release has an expiration date and must be replaced when it reaches the end of its life. The Hammar hydrostatic release operates under the effect of water pressure, from around 10 cm below the surface. This limits involuntary tripping due to spray or strong water splashes, making it a particularly suitable solution for more exposed types of sailing. Whatever model you choose, all inflatable lifejackets can also be triggered manually. |
AN INFLATABLE VEST THAT'S MORE COMFORTABLE TO WEARThe Pilot 165 has been redesigned for enhanced wearing comfort. Its light, supple fabric cover allows great freedom of movement, even with thicker garments such as oilskins or jackets. Its cut has been optimized to give greater freedom of movement over the arms and rest more naturally on the shoulders. The result is a vest that's more comfortable to wear over time, both when maneuvering and when sailing. The double-opening YKK closure facilitates access to the inner tube and simplifies inspection and reconditioning operations. The vest adjusts easily to your body shape, thanks to its adjustable side straps. In this version with integrated harness, the buckle is lighter and more ergonomic. The harness allows the use of a safety lanyard, particularly useful for securing your movements on board, depending on sailing conditions. This vest is also available without a harness You can also complete the equipment with a strap under-skin, a lanyard or a flashlight (sold separately). |

MAINTENANCE AND INSPECTIONBefore each outing, we recommend checking the general condition of the vest: fabric, straps, buckle, CO₂ cartridge and release system must be in good condition. A more comprehensive check can be carried out regularly by inflating the vest orally, then leaving it pressurized to check for leaks. For automatic versions, you should also check the expiration date of the trigger, and replace the kit when necessary. After use, especially at sea, the vest should be rinsed with fresh water, then air-dried in a ventilated area away from excessive heat. In the event of triggering, the CO₂ cartridge and, depending on the model, the corresponding triggering system must be replaced, before folding the vest up correctly. Regular maintenance ensures that the vest remains reliable and works properly when you really need it. To find out more, take a look at our guide to choosing a lifejacket. |

Questions / Answers (11)
Hello, I live in Guadeloupe and I would like to know if it is possible to deliver this vest to me?
Hello Mathias, unfortunately, aviation regulations prohibit the transport of gas cartridges, which this model is equipped with. Whether it has a manual, Hammar or automatic release.
We recommend that you opt for a lifejacket without release.
Hello, is-this model equipped with a strap passing between the legs?
Bonjour Étienne, this lifejacket does not have a subcutaneous-strap. You need to opt for the compatible under-skin strap sold separately.
I wanted to know if this vest was exclusively for adults?
Hi Yann, this vest is designed for people weighing at least 40 kg. If you put it on a child, it won't be adapted to their morphology. If you want a vest for children, choose one specifically adapted to their height and weight.
How do I care for my inflatable lifejacket Plastimo?
Hello Samuel, maintaining your lifejacket is essential to prolong its life and ensure its effectiveness.
- First of all, visually check your lifejacket before each outing (outer cover, C02 cartridge, fastener, strap, release system, etc.).
- Have it checked by a professional every year.
- Store it in a well-ventilated, dry place.
- If your vest has been used and triggered, remember to buy spare parts adapted to your vest and its triggering system.
What's the difference between harnessed and non-harnessed models?
Hello Yoann, the Pilot 165 lifejacket comes in two models: with and without harness.
- The harness model includes a textile loop or "D" ring for attaching a safety lanyard. This feature is essential when sailing offshore, at night or in rough seas, where it's crucial to remain attached to the boat to prevent falling overboard
- The harnessless model does not allow attachment to a safety lanyard. It is designed to be lighter and more comfortable, making it ideal for nautical activities where attachment to the boat is not necessary, such as coastal sailing or pleasure outings
Hello, can-I add a strap under-skin or a hood on my vest?
Hi Robert, yes, you can add an under-cut and a hood to the Plastimo Pilot 165 vest.
