The SOLAS Plastimo neoprene survival suit is safety and survival equipment designed for situations of emergency or imminent danger. It will ensure your survival thanks to its 150N buoyancy (equivalent to a lifejacket with or without release) and thermal insulation.
The Plastimo neoprene survival suit is safety equipment for professionals. Whether you're a fisherman, a sailor on commercial vessels or sailboats, a professional skipper, a lifeguard or oil rig or offshore personnel, this suit will ensure your survival in cold waters and keep you afloat.
The wetsuit can be slipped on directly from-over your clothing or carried on board your boat, saving precious seconds in an emergency situation such as an evacuation or shipwreck. It's also an excellent complement to a life raft.

Approved for survival!A person's chances of survival in cold water diminish drastically if they-cannot maintain their body temperature at an optimal level for as long as possible. That's why Plastimo has created an immersion suit that dramatically increases the chances of survival in the event of hypothermia, thanks to its high buoyancy index. The suit's buoyancy and watertightness are ensured by its 5mm-thick, CR-reinforced neoprene design. It's also flame-retardant, as this neoprene has excellent resistance to fire (and hydrocarbons). The Plastimo neoprene wetsuit acts as a lifejacket, with a buoyancy rating of 150N. This 150 Newtons certification is designed for offshore sailing, and guarantees a turn-over on the back in less than 5 seconds. It also ensures that the wearer's head stays on its side or back, even if he or she is unconscious. Finally, the Plastimo neoprene survival suit is fully insulated and SOLAS-approved. This means it will prevent the wearer's body temperature from dropping by a maximum of 2°C in water between 0°C and 2°C, for up to 6 hours! |

Is a survival suit-mandatory on board a boat?

Hello Gautier, a survival suit is not systematically compulsory on board a boat. It depends on the type of boat, the activity and the sailing area. Here are the main cases:
- Pleasure boating: The survival suit is not compulsory, but can replace your lifejacket or lifejacket armband if you are sailing within 6 miles of the coast, in accordance with Division 240.
- Professional use: You must refer to Division 331 to find out whether it is mandatory. But it is in these cases (water temperature below 15°C, vessels subject to the SOLAS convention). If you must buy a wetsuit, buy one that complies with the SOLAS standard.

Hello Kévin, to maintain a survival suit Plastimo, rinse-it with fresh water after use, let-it air dry in the shade, and lubricate the zipper regularly. Store-in a dry, cool, dark place, preferably hanging or rolled without folds. Check its condition at least once a year.
